Playground on the roof
House in Wrocław Krzyki
Wroclaw, PL
area: 315 m2
project: 2017
completion: 2019
architect: Kuba Wozniczka
cooperation: Joanna Szeler, Marta Wróblewska
Another project of a house on a narrow plot of land.
The site is an long strip of land in a district of single-family houses with heterogeneous buildings.
In the immediate vicinity, most of the cube houses from the 1960s and 1970s are 2.5 storey high.
The decision was made to open the living area and master bedroom to the garden by completely glazing the east-south façade (the south facade is to close to the border of the plot and the neighbour building.)
At the other end of the house there are utility rooms and garage on the ground floor and a children’s and guest`s room on the first floor with views to the west and north.
In order to provide good sunlight in the children’s rooms, it was decided to raise this zone to get additional lighting through the mezzanine from the east-south side.
At the same time, this idea allowed for easy access to the roof terrace from the mezzanines of the children’s rooms and the guest room / study.
The roof terrace right next to the children’s rooms can serve as a kind of “playground” for children
The form of the house is shaped to efficiently and rationally organize the program specified by the clients, and at the same time so that the mass / height of the building fits into the immediate environment, in which 3 or 2.5 storey houses dominate, most of them with flat roofs.
We also designed interiors of the house. More pictures of the interior you can see here
